The Capital Improvement Program

A Capital Improvement Program (CIP) flows from the goals and objectives identified in the Town's  Master Plan.  The CIP states priorities that assist the budget committee in planning upcoming expenditures from town funds.   A budget committee is sometimes separately appointed or elected, but in Bridgewater's case the Board of Selectmen serves as budget committee and allocates funds in the budget to support such cost centers as road maintenance, police security, fire department, and schools.

The Town of Bridgewater has voted to employ a Capital Improvement Plan to help in budget planning, but lacking a current Master Plan, the Bridgewater Planning Board, empowered to construct the CIP, has deferred working on this task till it finishes work on Bridgewater's Master Plan 2000.

It is anticipated that by the close of the year 2000 the Bridgewater Planning Board will place on record its first Capital Improvement Program for the Town.  This document will be built from priorities identified in the Master Plan under the guidance of the Planning Board and the Board of Selectmen.  The document will be directed to the budget committee as a guide motivating spending for the near future of the Town.
